Movies are a way for me to escape into another world and experience reality in another perspective.

Watching movies does not only help you get out of boredom. A good movie will make you feel not alone. Read 15 other things you can do when bored here.

I can’t get over my love for watching movies especially ones I can relate to on a personal level. And if you are a movie lover like me, then I guess you’ll love this post.

Looking back, the year has been filled with plenty wonderful movies with great story lines and excellent acting talents.

But not all of them will speak to you on the same level. You would relate more to some than others.

In this post, I have compiled five movies released in 2019 that made my year fun and either changed my perspective towards something or were relatable.

If you haven’t seen any of these movies, I recommend you see them after reading this post. I shared some websites links where you can download movies at the end of this post. So, stick around and read on.

Five 2019 movies that made my year

One of the biggest movies out of nollywood this year is King of boys. I watched out for this movie like crazy.

And it was for no other reason than the fact that Reminisce featured in it, although there were other celebrities but he was my star to watch in the movie, and guess what? I wasn’t disappointed by his acting.

It shed light on the secret life of politician and their dirty games. Nice story line, wonderful acting.

I’d love to see a part 2.

Comedy? Count me in Okurrrr!

Marsai Martin brought every game to this one, aside playing the lead role, she also served as the executive producer of this wonderful movie.

If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to go back to your younger self like me, this movie brings that to reality.

I love this movie and I remembered watching it over three times. A must watch if you haven’t seen it.

I can’t get enough of Keanu Reeves especially when it is time for him to play John Wick.

Ever seen someone fight with a book? I mean, kill someone with a book. Watch John Wick 3. Interesting fight scenes and story.

Watching for chapter 4 already.

I have never anticipated the return of a movie the way I did this. I watched lion king growing up like I watched it countless times.

And for it to return this year was a blessing. Not just return but it returned with some of our favorite celebrities. Beyonce, Donald Glover (Childish Gambino), Chiwetel Ejiofor, Seth Rogen and James Earl Jones (I remembered his role in Coming to America)

Still showing in some cinemas across Nigeria, Joker is by far my best movie of 2019.

Grammy winner, Golden Globe winner Joaquin Phoenix played Arthur also know as Joker. A character that sucked out pity and empathy from we the audience.

I love the fact that it spoke about one of the struggles of living with a chronic illness which is being lonely.

No one understood his condition, they mocked him and made him feel bad about himself until he turned ‘against the world’.

But aside that, it also spoke about mental illness and the society. We live in a society where people desert those living with a mental issue. We need more movies like the Joker that talks about things society shy away from.
